This Oscar Nominee – and Face of Bleu De Chanel – Is Hosting SNL This Weekend

"Saturday Night Live" is off to a banner start this season with superstar hosts Pete Davidson, Bad Bunny, and Nate Bargatze. This weekend, one of Hollywood's most electric new A-listers will take on hosting duties. Will girlfriend Kylie Jenner be in tow? And more importantly, will this face of Bleu de Chanel be wearing his signature scent?
Of course, Timothée Chalamet needs little introduction in these parts, having mesmerized fans – and picked up an Oscar nomination in the process – when he broke through in 2017 with films "Call Me By Your Name" and "Lady Bird," followed closely by winning turns in "Little Women," "Dune," and "Don't Look Up."
Although this will be Chalamet's second time hosting SNL, he has a different first that he's super stoked about: Being directed by the legendary Martin Scorsese. He also has an affinity for Chanel, the iconic fashion house and fragrance behemoth, making him the ideal face of one of the bestselling men's fragrances on the market.
In a conversation with Vogue, Chalamet recalled the time his grandmother gifted his sister a bottle of Chanel No.5, and how he thought his grandmother was "a very, very elegant lady in the best sense of the word – subtly elegant and not for show."
There's a lovely symmetry, then, to Chalamet becoming a face of the brand all these years later. "I like that it feels a little pulled back, it's subtle but still assertive," he told Vogue. "I'm not someone who wears scent all the time. For me, it's about emphasizing a moment."
And how better to emphasize a moment than to have Martin Scorsese film the campaign? According to Vogue, the Chalamet-Scorsese Chanel campaign is the brand's most anticipated since Baz Luhrmann and Nicole Kidman joined forces a decade ago in the name of Chanel No. 5.
"I have some friends that aren't as interested in the high-fashion space, but when I tell them I'm doing a short film with Martin Scorsese in New York, their ears prick up," he told Vogue. "He lives and breathes moviemaking. The conversations we've had over Zoom have been super enthused. For him, it's like hitting the treadmill."
