'I Just Love the Scripts,' Says Adam DiMarco about Revealing 'Overcompensating' Scenes

Adam DiMarco is turning heads this week for baring his butt once again on camera. He famously did so in 2022 on the Season 2 of "The White Lotus" when he had a steamy encounter with an Italian sex worker. Now on "Overcompensating," the much-buzzed Amazon Prime Video series that satirizes masculinity amongst college students, he does so again. So, it wasn't surprising to see him talk about it to E! Entertainment reporter Brice Sander while on the red carpet at the show's recent LA premiere.

When Sander pointed out that "Overcompensating" is a "horny, horny show," and that DiMarco is in a lot of its more provocative scenes, the 35-year old actor responded, "I keep doing shows where I have to get naked for them. But you know, it's worth it, because I don't know. I just love the scripts."

What he likes about "Overcompensating," in which he plays the toxic male Peter, is that "it is "a fun ride. It's heartfelt. It's horny. It is horny and it's heartfelt, which is, like, it's kind of the best scenario."

Asked if he preferred his mom and dad not watch this one, DiMarco replied: "That's exactly it. (But) maybe they're going to watch it because you know they are very loving and supportive."

As for seeing his butt, Sander suggests they can suspend disbelief.

"Exactly. It's my character's butt. It's not Adam's butt. It's a prosthetic butt."

Peter, his character, is one of the most derisive on the show, one who in less skilled hands would merely be a caricature. But as
Rachel Aroesti|points out in her Guardian review: "Then there's Peter, the high-status boyfriend of Benny's sister and fellow student Grace (Mary Beth Barone), who is determined to take 'Bento' under his wing. 'The White Lotus's' Adam DiMarco does an exceptional job of infusing this heinous wannabe alpha with humanity while squeezing every drop of hilarity from his ludicrous vernacular of 'yee's and 'nah's.' At one point, Peter and his pals get so high off their own virility that they explode into an orgy of roaring, chest-thumping and shirt-ripping – a pastiche of frat bro masculinity that is quite exquisite."

And for a non-toxic DiMarco, may we suggest the actor as seen in the bi-curious Bumble ad he made in 2023 in which he walks down a street and does random acts of kindness to people he comes across. The camera then catches their reactions – both male and female – that simply say, 'Yum. He can Bumble me anytime."

"I am excited to team up with Bumble and be part of a project driven by kindness," the actor said in a statement about this new commercial. "It's a great opportunity to change the narrative and show what a more positive portrayal of masculinity looks like, and reminds us that kindness is actually the most attractive quality in a person."
