It's not easy working 9 to 5 in a big blonde wig and stiletto nails, and Ross Mathews proved that on very special Halloween episode of "The Drew Barrymore Show."

For the occasion, the titular host was dressed as Bob Ross and Mathews joined as the "Jolene" singer for a cooking segment with "Pioneer Woman" Ree Drummond.

Drummond had the unenviable task of teaching the two how to make her famous chili and potato nachos, and things quickly spiraled out of control as their costumes began to prove quite difficult to wear while cooking.

Mathews particularly lost two of his nails in various pots of cooking food.

"It's so hard to do this with nails, you guys! I can't even begin to tell you!" he explained.

When Barrymore scooped the beans for the chili mixture, she found Mathews' bright fake nail in the mix and it melted into the hot chili.

"Oh my god, Drew!" he said. "No! My fingernail's in there!"

With Drummond and Barrymore attempting to fish it out, the host declared: "We're just going with it!"

And indeed they did. "I have to say, I think we're nailing this chili," said Mathews.

"I think you should just pretend that never happened," said Drummond, but TV and the internet is forever. And not to spoil too much, but Mathews later attempts to use an inventive replacement for his nail and makes a corny joke.

Then a piece of Mathews sequined costume gets stuck in the oven when he tries to insert the nachos. "Oh no, look!" he said. "Part of me got stuck on here! My outfit! One of my bedazzles got stuck on here!"

In her Bob Ross persona, Barrymore quickly intervened and released him, only for him to lose yet another nail.

"Every good Halloween costume should be wrecked by the end of the evening," said Drummond. And that's putting it lightly.
