The following is a press release from Quincy Pride:
Quincy Pride is excited to announce they will hold their annual festival at Pageant Field on Sunday, June 6, 2021, from 12-4 p.m., with COVID-19 precautions. The team is looking forward to hosting an afternoon of different performances, equipped with food and beer trucks, community, and LGBTQ+ vendor tables, raffle items, social-distanced activities, and some fun surprises.
Quincy Pride is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that launched its first celebration with Quincy Pride Day in 2018. Traditionally held on the first Sunday of Pride Month (June in Massachusetts), the 2019 event attracted around 2,000 people. Of course, given the COVID-19 pandemic, last year's virtual event went along with a Pride flag display at the Church of the Presidents to keep the momentum going.
After a town hall event in March and the promising news that in-person outdoor gatherings could resume within reason and with precautions, Pageant Field will once again be the home for the Q Pride Day celebration.
This year's festivities will include drag performances featuring some of the biggest names in Provincetown and Boston; raffle items; live music and a DJ; a family-friendly puppeteer; as well as more fun, Pride-themed contests. Masks are encouraged and hand sanitizing stations will be in abundance to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Community nonprofit and vendor tables will be spaced out around the field and limited to a reasonable number. There will also be the first-ever Prideful Puppy contest (details to come) as well as awards given to vendor tables with the best decorations.
We are a volunteer organization that promotes LGBTQ+ inclusivity, equality, and respect through annual events in the city of Quincy and the neighboring South Shore communities. As of today's date, the festival's corporate sponsors include Arbella, Bogan Tree, FoxRock, Manet Community Health Center, and Quirk.
If you would like to sponsor the event, donate a raffle item. and/or host a vendor table, contact Sheika Babin ([email protected]) or Richard Ash ([email protected]).
