AdventureWomen Reveals 2018 Destinations
READ TIME: 2 MIN.
AdventureWomen, the leader in women-only adventure travel for 35 years, has unveiled its 2018 program, offering 26 destinations and the first annual lineup from the company's new, multi-generational owners.
With Judi Wineland and her daughters, Erica and Nicole, at the helm, AdventureWomen's 2018 program has promised to deliver on a series of brand commitments recently unveiled in the company's re-branding. Starting next year, every tour offered by AdventureWomen will include a "women-to-women" exchange with local communities and off-the-beaten path "insider access."
Highlights in the 2018 lineup of women-to-women exchanges include: meeting with free divers, the "Ama" (sea women), in Japan; a tasting with the youngest female certified "Beer Sommelier" in Canada; and a meeting with nuns at the Pema Choling Institute, the first "shedra" (Buddhist university) for women in Bhutan.
"I believe strongly in our commitment to include women-to-women exchanges in all of our trips," remarked co-owner Judi Wineland, the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Adventure Travel Trade Association. "Through travel, we enable women to build new connections with the world, with themselves and with other women -- both within the group and the destinations we visit."
To increase the diversity in adventures offered, AdventureWomen has added a selection of new activities in never-before-offered destinations. Examples include ice swimming in the frozen seas of Finland and riding camels in Morocco's Sahara Desert. Exclusive experiences have also been incorporated into all AdventureWomen tours, including an after-hours tour of St. Mark's Basilica in Venice and a home-cooked meal prepared by the "pascuenses" the local inhabitants on Easter Island.
And in 2018, AdventureWomen will introduce its first-ever trip to Great Barrier Island, a remote island about 30 miles off the coast of New Zealand, where the Winelands maintain a private home.
"Growing up, Nicole and I spent every Christmas with our parents on Great Barrier Island," said Erica Landerson. "This untouched island is scattered with raw, wild forests and represents a special place for Judi, Nicole, and I."
The exclusive itinerary will include fishing with locals, a private yoga class on a platform in the forest, hiking to the top of the Island and enjoying lunch at the Wineland family home.
"We are excited to show our travelers the place we call home, where so many of the childhood memories that forged our love for the outdoors and adventure were born," concluded Erica.
