Rio Just Got Hotter! Eight Athletes to Watch This Summer!

Troy Maillis READ TIME: 4 MIN.

Ah, the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. It's the type of drama we live for-at least when it comes to sports. Fighting through blood, sweat and tears, athletes train most of their lives for that perfect moment in the spotlight at the Olympic Games.

With the Rio Olympics on the horizon, many of the world's top athletes are putting the final touches on their preparation to reach peak performance and fitness levels. Going for the gold this summer is going to be tough, but these eight hunky Olympians have already won our hearts-and have also left us drooling.

Gymnastics (USA): Danell Leyva, 24, lives and trains in Miami, Florida. Leyva originally made the 2016 Olympic men's gymnastics team as an alternate, but a knee injury to teammate John Orozco bumped Leyva onto the competing team. Leyva also won a bronze medal in the men's individual all-around final in London 2012. Look for Leyva on his specialty: the Horizontal Bar.

What make him hot: In addition to that sexy smile, Leyva supports many LGBT-related causes, including the World Out Games Miami in 2017. He's also one of the few gymnasts that sports scruff and chest hair on the completion floor-woof!

Track & Field (Canada): Andre De Grasse, 21, has won two bronze medals at the world championships and two gold medals at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto. He is currently a runner for the University of Southern California, and the Rio Olympics will be his first games.

What makes him hot: We love any guy who can move fast. Also, he's Canadian with a diverse background! Andre's mother was a high school sprinter in Trinidad and Tobago and his father is from Barbados. The couple met in Canada, and those genes spawned one of the fastest-and sexiest-track and field stars out there.

Diving (Great Britain): Tom Daley, 22, hails from then United Kingdom, and boy do we love those accents-the boyish good looks don't hurt either! Rio will be Daley's third appearance at the Olympics. He also competed in Beijing in 2008 and London in 2012, where he won a bronze medal in the 10-metre men's platform.

What makes him hot: In 2013, Daley released a YouTube video announcing he was in a relationship with a man, and in 2015 became engaged to Dustin Lance Black. He's one of the few male Olympians who are out publicly.

Swimming (Brazil): Marcelo Chierigini, 25, is from Sao Paulo, so he will have the weight of the world on his shoulders competing in front of a home crowd in Brazil. Look for Marcelo in the men's 100 meters freestyle.
What makes him hot: Swimmers are known for a certain physique-most gay dating apps even have "swimmers build" as one of the options for body type! The other captivating aspect of a swimmer is his uniform. Marcelo rocks a pair of Speedos like no other.

Gymnastics (USA): Sam Mikulak (23) is also competing in his second Olympic Games in Rio. He was an NCAA gymnast at the University of Michigan, has won numerous national titles and won a team bronze medal at the Nanning World Championships in 2014.

What makes him hot: Sam's got that kind of infectious, uplifting personality that makes you think he's preparing for a Sean Cody audition! He's definitely got the looks and the bod. We'd welcome the opportunity to see him on the screen anytime. Look for Sam in the team and all-around gymnastics competition.

Water Polo (Australia): Rhys Howden, 29, is a hunky water polo player from Brisbane, Australia. He began playing water polo at the age of 14 and made his first Olympic team in 2008 (Beijing) at 21. Rhys also competed in the London 2012 Olympics and is making his third appearance at the Games this summer.

What makes him hot: The hair, the face, the body, the speedos and that ACCENT-need we say more? A 6'2" Australian water polo player is the holy grail of fantasy hookups. Is there even a word to describe how hot those stats are? G'day indeed!

Swimming: Luca Dotto, 26, is an Italian swimmer standing 6'4" tall-that's just the right size. According to Wikipedia, he holds the Italian record in the 100 m freestyle with a time of 47.96 and was the first Italian to break 48 seconds. Luca also competed in London 2012.

What makes him hot? Luca looks like he was chiseled from top quality marble and plucked from a men's high-fashion runway. His daily workout includes two hours in the pool each morning and two more hours in the afternoon, and he also incorporates gym training sessions three times a week.

Gymnastics: Jake Dalton, 24, is originally from Reno, Nevada and represented the University of Oklahoma in college gymnastics. Like Danell Leyva and Sam Mikulak, Dalton was a member of the London 2012 nen's gymnastics team that finished fifth. Jake's specialties are the floor exercise and vault. The men's gymnastics team is in contention for a bronze medal in Rio.

What makes him hot: We mentioned Jake's specialty events are floor exercise and vault, which require an incredible amount of leg strength. Have you seen his lower body? In addition to his piercing blue eyes and Superman upper body, he's got legs like tree trunks and an ass you could bounce five quarters of off.
