"And I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you meddling kids!"
No, this is not an episode of "Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!" but an all too real incident that recently occurred in Wildwood, Fla.
The Smoking Gun reports a suspect in a hit-and-run accident tried to blame the crash on her dog, even telling the authorities they should lock up the innocent animal.
Christina Lamoreaux, 33, is believed to have been behind a hit-and-run accident last week with witnesses telling police she "had left the scene and entered her own apartment," according to a police report obtained by the Smoking Gun. When Lamoreaux was questioned, she admitted to leaving the scene after the accident but said she "did not need to stay there due to the fact that she would pay for the damage."
Lamoreaux then blamed the crash on her dog, and, according to Officer Matthew Reynolds, said he "should arrest her dog." According to the Smoking Gun, the suspect "smelled of booze" and notes the police report does not reveal if Lamoreaux's dog had any role in the accident.
Reynolds ultimately arrested Lamoreaux (and not the dog), who failed a number of filed sobriety tests in jail. She is facing charges for drunk driving, resisting arrest, and leaving the scene of an accident.
Nevertheless, it appears as though Lamoreaux enjoys driving with her pooch. According to the Smoking Gun, she posted a photo to her Facebook showing her dog sitting in the passenger seat of her car.
"The best road trippin friend... No backseat driving and no comments/complaints on the music choices," she reportedly wrote for the image's caption.
Lamoreaux is free on $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 26 for the misdemeanor counts.
