Playbill iconic yellow and black logo seen in programs both in New York and around the United States gets a new look, at least for the month of June.
It was announced today on Playbill.com that "the first time in its 130 years, Playbill will alter its logo on the covers of all Broadway and Off-Broadway theatres from iconic yellow to rainbow in support of LGBTQ Pride Month this June."
"The Broadway community has always been on the forefront of this issue-leading the way to prove that equality, love and respect matters," said Playbill President and CEO Philip Birsh in the report.
"Playbill continues its support for this vital cause by honoring all the outstanding efforts made by the community at large and will lend our magazine-the magazine of Broadway-to celebrate all the theatrical community has done to further the efforts towards fairness and equality."
The Playbill item continued:
"The resilience and passion of the LGBTQ community will be celebrated within the pages of Playbill magazine and online at Playbill.com with cause-related content and features highlighting many of the vital organizations that serve the LGBTQ community, as well as pioneering voices and productions that have altered the theatrical landscape."
