The Atlanta Pride Committee (APC) announced highlights today for its 2020 virtual festival.

Earlier this year, due to concerns around COVID-19, the APC announced that the 50th-anniversary festival would be a virtual event. Despite this change, there is a fantastic line up of programming that they will stream!

Virtual events will take place beginning as early as September 29 and continue throughout the festival week and all day on October 10 & 11. The line-up features an interactive virtual marketplace with a scavenger hunt, children's programming, music, artist and author talks, and collaborative programming with several community partners. The week will also feature wellness programming including yoga, exercise and nutrition tips, a virtual 5k, suicide prevention workshops, and a town hall on the impacts of COVID-19 in the LGBTQ+ community.

Of course it wouldn't be Atlanta Pride without the beloved Starlight Cabaret, which will be pre-recorded this year and will stream at 7 pm on October 11. The Shooting Stars Cabaret is back too and can be viewed on October 10 at 7 pm.

Guests can also browse the virtual marketplace all day on October 10 & 11; and while the parade won't take place this year, CBS46 will air a 1-hour special Atlanta Pride broadcast on October 11 at 1 pm.

In keeping with the time-honored tradition of including great musical entertainment as a part of the festival — the virtual event will be no exception! There will be fantastic artist performances and appearances that will stream as a part of the Starlight Cabaret, beginning at 7 pm on October 11. The lineup will be announced next week!

New this year and created especially for this virtual event, APC has partnered with Proof of the Pudding who will offer Pride Packs to amp up your at-home celebration. Catering packages for fancy snacks, brunch, and cocktails will be available for pre-order and pick up during Atlanta Pride weekend! A portion of the proceeds will benefit Atlanta Pride! A full schedule will be released on the Atlanta Pride website and social media platforms this week. All streaming can be accessed by going to www.atlantapride.org

APC Executive Director, Jamie Fergerson said, "While this has definitely been an unusual year for everyone, our team has pulled out all the stops to make sure that this 50th-anniversary milestone is memorable!"

Fergerson continued, "We want everyone to remain safe and healthy, and we also want everyone to have a little fun enjoying the Atlanta Pride Festival in a very different way this year. As always, we have a wide variety of programming that will offer something of interest to everyone across our wonderful community. Let me be the first to say, HAPPY PRIDE!"

Please note that APC is not hosting any in-person events as a part of the festival this year. They encourage everyone to stay home and enjoy the virtual event, and if you do go out, please maintain appropriate social distance and wear a face cover.
