Hours after NBC announced "Saturday Night Live" added three new cast members, including an openly gay comic who became the show's first Asian American player, it was revealed that one of the new actors used an anti-Chinese slur in a 2018 video and also made anti-gay remarks in his past, Variety reports.

It was announced Thursday that Chole Fineman, Shane Gillis and Bowen Yang would join "SNL" for its upcoming 45th season, making Yang the show's first Asian American cast member. But it didn't take long before the Internet found racist and homophobic remarks Gillis made not that long ago.

In an episode of Gillis' podcast called "Matt and Shane's Secret Podcast," he tells co-host comedian Matt McCusker that "Chinatown's fucking nuts."

"Let the fucking ch*nks live there," Gillis says. He later recalls a restaurant being "full of fucking Chinee [sic] in there."

Freelance writer Seth Simons posted the clip on Twitter, which quickly went viral. Variety reports the clip is dated from Sept. 26, 2018, and writes "the video appears to be from a podcast recording of Gillis' two-man show, which airs on the Bonfire on Sirius XM. According to Gillis' website, the 'Matt and Shane's Secret Podcast' is available on iTunes."

Variety also reports the video of their podcast episode, called "Ep 98 Ka Pow," has been deleted from YouTube but says Gillis also says "Muslim heaven" is "the best" in that episode.

"There's only one way there, dude," McCusker reportedly says.

"You gotta spill blood, you gotta praise Allah by spilling blood," Gillis says.

During that same episode, Gillis reportedly says that their conversation is "nice racism, good racism," according to Variety.

In another episode called "Ep 144 — A.I. is Racist," the two comedians make fun of Asian accents about 22 minutes and 20 seconds into the show, calling the video game "Clash of Clans" as "Crash of Crans" in a mock Chinese accent.

In the episode called "Ep 146 — Live from Shane's Parent's Basement," Gillis refers to soldiers at the Battle of Gettysburg as "so gay." Around the 29 minute mark, he also uses the word "retard" and "faggot" and jokes with McCusker about "hot Southern boys" being raped during the Civil War, comparing it to "having gay sex in jail," Variety writes.

Gillis responded with a statement Thursday night on Twitter regarding his comments, saying he's a "comedian who pushes boundaries. I sometimes miss." He also says he is "Happy to apologize to anyone who's actually offended by anything I've said" and that his intention was "never to hurt anyone but I am trying to be the best comedian I can be and sometimes that requires risks."
