Miss Fame, "RuPaul's Drag Race" alum, was reportedly offered just $500 to appear in a Justin Bieber video. She told Us Weekly that her reason for rejecting the offer was "about respect."

Bieber's production team reportedly sent the offer with the message: "You're the one and only queen that he wants. It's the honor of working with him."

While she says she was flattered to have the opportunity to "fly to Paris where I'm going to be celebrated as an artist and feel that value that I've worked really hard [for]," the offer was insufficient for even her airfare to get to the shoot.

"I've done my research," she told Us. "To say that you are wanting to utilize me as the one and only talent of my type, you should have asked me what it would cost to hire me to provide my talent. Because my time is valuable."

On her Instagram story, Miss Fame further explained her dissatisfaction with the offer, saying: "If you want to involve LGBTQIA+ artist[s] in JB music videos, I suggest respectable compensation/rate for their (mine) time & talent. I can't pay my rent off of the 'honor' or 'experience.'"

Paper Magazine received a statement from Bieber's PR team, which clarified that "Bieber himself was not involved in casting any extras. Casting was the director's vision."

Paper also reports that the director, who identifies as a member of the LGBTQ community, offered all talent the same pay for the shoot.

Miss Fame went on to tell Us Weekly that she felt the need to stand up for her value as an artist now, rather than retrospectively.

"If I'm not speaking up at the height of my career, if I talked about it later, I would come across bitter," she said. "So I'm talking about it today where I have a point of authority, because if I'm not going to do it, who will?"
