Company Responds After Gus Kenworthy Points Out Severe Homophobia on YouTube

YouTube is responding to out Olympian Gus Kenworthy, who made headlines this week for pointing out homophobia is still rampant and that he is no stranger to receiving a deluge of anti-gay comments on his videos.

Kenworthy shared screenshots of YouTube commenters calling him a "faggot" and telling him to "go die of AIDS."




After the tweet went viral, earning almost 20,000 retweets and 55,000 likes (and a response from Chelsea Clinton), the official Twitter account for YouTube responded to Kenworthy, saying it's "working to fix" offensive comments and abuse.




The athlete thanked YouTube and offered a sound suggestion: Simply filtering out words like "faggot" and phrases like "kill yourself."

"I'm confident enough to brush it off but a younger me would have had a harder time," Kenworthy added.




Kenworthy is still keeping his head high, later posting a message to his haters:
